Starring:
Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Bowen Yang, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode
Director: Jon M. Chu

To call Jon M. Chu’s Wicked a success would be putting it mildly. The first chapter of the two-part adaptation of the Broadway sensation wasn’t just a critical darling — it shattered box office records and cast a lasting spell on audiences worldwide. Now, with the highly anticipated Wicked: For Good on the horizon, the story continues — and the first official trailer has just landed.

From the looks of it, we’re in for an emotional, magical, and downright epic conclusion.

Glinda vs Elphaba: A Friendship at the Edge

At the heart of For Good lies the complex, heartbreaking friendship between Glinda the Good Witch (Ariana Grande) and Elphaba the Wicked Witch (Cynthia Erivo) — once close allies, now on opposing sides in the battle for Oz.

As the trailer soars, Grande and Erivo lend their powerful vocals to the iconic Broadway ballad “For Good”, underscoring a relationship frayed by ideology but rooted in unshakable emotional history.

Set after the climactic finale of the first film — in which Glinda aligns with the manipulative Wizard (Jeff Goldblum) and Elphaba commits herself to liberating Oz’s oppressed creatures — Wicked: For Good picks up the pieces, with Oz on the brink of revolution.

Returning Faces and New Legends

This time, the stakes are higher and the ensemble is bigger. We catch glimpses of familiar faces:

  • Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) — Elphaba’s love and a key player in the rebellion
  • Boq (Ethan Slater) and Nessarose (Marissa Bode) — tangled in political and emotional webs
  • And yes — Dorothy has officially entered the building, along with her iconic ruby slippers and Yellow Brick Road companions

The tension is palpable, the visual spectacle grand, and the world of Oz feels more alive than ever.

A Wicked Finale in the Making

When we spoke to Chu last year, he described For Good as “a doozy” — and judging by this trailer, he wasn’t exaggerating. From sweeping emotional beats to awe-inspiring visuals, the film promises to be both a celebration and a swan song, tying together the destinies of Glinda and Elphaba with cinematic gravity.

Can the two witches find redemption, or are they doomed to fulfill their legendary fates? Will the Wizard and Madame Morrible (Michelle Yeoh) succeed in tightening their grip on Oz? And how does Dorothy’s arrival change the tides?

Of course, we think we know how it ends — thanks to The Wizard of Oz, L. Frank Baum’s novels, and Gregory Maguire’s Wicked books — but if anyone can reinvent a classic, it’s Jon M. Chu.

Wicked: For Good hits theaters on 21 November 2025.

Mark your calendars. The end of one of Broadway’s greatest stories is about to begin.

A-WOAH-OH-AH-OH-WOAH-OH-OHHHH! 🎶
