The 6 God is back—and he’s aiming to freeze the summer.

Drake made a cinematic return on July 4 with the debut of his introspective new single “What Did I Miss,” premiered during a livestream that followed the rapper through the streets of Toronto—literally trailing an Iceman-branded truck. The track officially hit streaming platforms on July 5, and quickly shot to the top of the Spotify U.S. chart, holding the No. 1 spot for two consecutive days.

Though details remain scarce, one thing is clear: Iceman is coming. And with it, a new chapter in Drake’s career, following his seismic clash with Kendrick Lamar in 2024.

A Pivotal Moment for Drake

Nearly two decades into a career full of chart dominance and genre-defining albums, Iceman feels like another turning point for Drake. It will mark his first solo full-length release since last year’s lyrical war with Lamar, and all signs suggest he’s entering this new era with something to prove.

With Drake headlining all three nights of Wireless Festival 2025 in the U.K. and preparing for his $ome $pecial $hows 4 U European tour with PARTYNEXTDOOR, the momentum is undeniable.

When Will Iceman Drop?

An exact release date hasn’t been confirmed, though Drake teased during the July 4 livestream that it’s “coming soon.” He even autographed a fan item with “Iceman 2025.”

With his tour kicking off on July 20, followed by a break during the first week of August — typically the window for Drake’s annual OVO Fest — speculation is mounting. If not during that window, then October, a month synonymous with his brand (October’s Very Own), feels like a natural landing point.

What’s Behind the Iceman Title?

Drake has been dropping icy hints for months. Social media posts featuring his glittering jewelry, nods to George Gervin and Chuck Liddell (both nicknamed “Iceman”), and references to Canada’s wintry climate all signaled something frosty on the horizon.

The title could also nod to Marvel’s Iceman, an X-Men founding member known for his emotional honesty. That would make Iceman yet another alter ego in Drake’s ever-expanding mythos.

On a literal level, the rapper aligned with Iceman, a Toronto-based ice packaging company. During the livestream, he followed one of their branded trucks, wore Iceman merch, and even hosted part of the stream at the company’s warehouse. According to Iceman rep Jake Silva, “People from all over North America started calling us … my father’s phone was blowing up.”

“What Did I Miss”

Drake’s latest single, “What Did I Miss,” is a moody, confrontational meditation on betrayal, heartbreak, and inner conflict. With a stark beat switch mid-track, Drake shifts his delivery from reflective to razor-sharp, addressing critics, friends-turned-opponents, and even throwing a not-so-subtle jab at unnamed NBA stars who supported Kendrick Lamar during his Pop Out concert.

“I saw bro went to Pop Out with them, but been d—k riding gang since ‘Headlines’,” he raps.

Produced by a powerhouse lineup—Tay Keith, OZ, FNZ, DJ Lewis, Patron, Elyas, GYZ, London Cyr, and O Lil Angel—the song builds upon the emotionally charged themes introduced on his unreleased Fighting Irish Freestyle, which briefly surfaced on YouTube in January before being taken down.

Preview: “Supermax”

During the livestream, Drake teased an unreleased track tentatively titled “Supermax.” Vulnerable and introspective, the song touches on fractured relationships, the weight of fame, and self-preservation.

“It’s still heartbreak Drake, but I glued it together,” he reflects.

In one particularly revealing bar, Drake name-drops TNT reporter Taylor Rooks, referencing a deep conversation about the burden of fame:

“I was talking to Taylor over drinks, and it was getting deep / ‘Not everyone can handle this pressure … in the city, you’re the national treasure,’ that’s what she said to me.”

Rooks later reposted the lyric to her Instagram Story, confirming the shoutout.

Who’s Featured on Iceman?

So far, the biggest rumor is that Iceman could be a feature-free solo album—a bold move considering the wave of high-profile artists who distanced themselves from Drake during his feud with Kendrick. If true, this would be the first time in Drake’s solo career he takes the full spotlight alone.

Still, there are signs of possible appearances. Drake gave props to 21 Savage on “Gimme a Hug,” and the Atlanta rapper reposted “What Did I Miss,” suggesting their creative chemistry remains intact.

Additionally, DJ Swamp Izzo previewed an unreleased Playboi Carti and Drake track at an after-party, reportedly a leftover from For All the Dogs. Whether it appears on Iceman remains to be seen.

As for production, expect mainstays like OZ, Tay Keith, Conductor Williams, Boi-1da, and of course, Drake’s longtime producer Noah “40” Shebib, to be heavily involved.

About That Viral Cover Art…

No, the viral blue ice-sculpture of Drake that’s been circulating on social media is not confirmed as the official Iceman cover. Drake has a history of unconventional artwork, but fans should wait for an official announcement before declaring anything definitive.

Final Thoughts

With Iceman, Drake seems poised to reassert himself — not just as a hitmaker, but as a storyteller navigating betrayal, redemption, and reinvention. Whether he goes it alone or calls on familiar collaborators, Iceman promises to be one of the most defining albums of his career.

Stay tuned for more updates as the drop approaches.
