The Toronto rapper is reportedly in a creative zone, even during parties and video shoots.

Drake seems more focused than ever—and he’s not letting anything distract him from the music.
According to OVO artist Smiley, the Toronto megastar has been deeply immersed in creating new material—so much so that he’s been writing during parties and even taking studio breaks while shooting the video for his track “Nokia.”
In a recently surfaced clip making the rounds on social media, Smiley shared an inside look into Drake’s current creative mindset.
“Brother, I’m telling you, I saw him the other day,” Smiley said. “We’re at a party and he’s in the other room by himself, eating pasta with wired headphones on, writing music—while the whole party is going on. He’s on a different mode right now.”
That level of focus appears to be carrying over into every aspect of his work. Smiley added that even on the set of the “Nokia” music video, Drake brought in producers and was recording music in between takes.
“He had a bunch of producers during breaks and was just recording. He’s in that crazy mode right now.”
This intense work ethic comes on the heels of several public hints Drake has dropped about new music. Back in February, during his Anita Max Win Tour in Australia and New Zealand, Drake told fans he was planning to have a “one-on-one talk” with them when the time was right—suggesting a deeper, possibly more personal project was in the works.
Then in April, while streaming with Adin Ross, Drake confirmed he was actively recording a new album and teased that “it’s a slap.” He also thanked fans for supporting his recent collab project $ome $exy $ongs 4 U with PartyNextDoor.
Drake himself seems to be co-signing the buzz. He reposted the clip of Smiley praising his current grind on his Instagram Story, subtly validating that something big is on the horizon.
If this creative energy is any indication, fans may not have to wait long for a new project from the For All the Dogs rapper. With Smiley’s insight and Drake’s own hints, anticipation is building for what could be another chart-topping release—and perhaps a lyrical response to the past year’s controversies and rap battles.
