Luxury meets altitude as rising fashion star Brandon Blackwood partners with American Airlines to design a new line of exclusive amenity kits for premium passengers. The collaboration, available through early September, marks the designer’s first foray into in-flight fashion — and it’s already turning heads.
The stylish amenity kits will be offered to customers flying in Flagship First, Flagship Suite, Business Class, and Premium Economy on select international and transcontinental flights.
For those traveling in Flagship First and Flagship Suite Preferred, the amenity kits will come in the form of a compact version of Blackwood’s signature Portmore handbag — a sleek and functional nod to his fashion-forward ethos. Business and Suite passengers will receive a “travel pouch with flair,” while Premium Economy travelers will enjoy a checkered pouch that reflects the designer’s modern, youthful sensibility.
“When this opportunity with American Airlines first arose, I knew I wanted to create designs that were familiar to my brand and could be repurposed as soon as the plane lands,” said Blackwood in a press release. “I traveled a lot growing up and used a lot of that inspiration in my designs. So it feels like a full-circle moment seeing my bags in flight — bringing innovation and creativity together.”
This collaboration is part of American Airlines’ expanding initiative to elevate the in-flight experience through limited-edition designer partnerships. Previous collaborators include Raven & Lily and Stand Up To Cancer, each offering kits that blend practicality with storytelling and purpose.
Heather Garboden, American’s Chief Customer Officer, emphasized the synergy between the airline and Blackwood’s brand:
“Brandon’s bold, fashion-forward designs are the perfect addition to our amenity kit collection — especially as our premium customers skew younger, in line with Gen Z’s growing investment in luxury items and experiences,” she noted. “From the designers we partner with to the brands we feature onboard, American is committed to offering travelers something new to discover — long before they reach their destination.”
With this launch, Brandon Blackwood adds another milestone to his rapidly growing resume — and travelers get to take home a little piece of runway style at 35,000 feet.
