As catastrophic floods continue to ravage central Texas, some of the world’s biggest music stars — including Billie Eilish, Shakira, Lana Del Rey, and others — are using their voices and platforms to express support and rally aid for those affected.

The disaster began over the Fourth of July weekend, when torrential rain overwhelmed the region, causing deadly flash floods across multiple counties. As of this writing, CNN reports at least 89 fatalities, including 27 young girls and counselors from Camp Mystic along the Guadalupe River. Many others remain unaccounted for, and search and rescue efforts are still underway.

“This Is So Sad”: Artists Respond in Real Time

Billie Eilish posted a somber video on her Instagram Story Sunday (July 6), capturing the flood’s destruction with the caption: “this is so sad.” She later added, “sending love to Texas,” and reshared a viral video highlighting concerns over former budget cuts to the National Weather Service, warning that reduced resources could hinder timely emergency alerts during such crises.

Shakira Donates, Urges Fans to Join Relief Efforts

Shakira, who recently performed in San Antonio, pledged a portion of her July 5 concert proceeds to flood relief efforts and encouraged fans to donate to a local crisis response charity.

“Our hearts and prayers are with those affected by the flood in Central Texas,” she posted on X. “Your help is important and appreciated.”

Miranda Lambert Mobilizes Mutt Nation to Help Displaced Pets

Country star Miranda Lambert, a Texas native, took to Instagram to announce that her charity, Mutt Nation, is assisting animals displaced by the disaster.

“I can’t even come up with the words for the loss everyone is suffering,” she said in a heartfelt video.
She also provided links and resources for fostering animals, dropping off supplies, and making donations.

Maren Morris, Hilary Duff & More Reflect on Heartbreak

Fellow Texan Maren Morris shared throwback images from previous performances in Texas, writing:

“Thinking of my home state right now. The floods are devastating, and people are still missing.”
She added that she would be donating to the Texas Hill Country Community Foundation, calling it “an incredibly impactful fund.”

Actress and singer Hilary Duff also shared a powerful message adorned with Texas’ state flower, the bluebonnet:

“Heartbroken doesn’t begin to cover it. Praying for even a shred of a miracle — to find a child alive in the wake of this boundless disaster … Your loss is felt across the world.”

Lana Del Rey: “May All the Angels Be With You”

Singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey issued a statement mourning the tragic events in Texas and acknowledging the simultaneous suffering in Gaza.

“We’ve been thinking of you every day since the floods … May all the angels be with you as you search for even more lost loved ones,” she wrote.
In a follow-up comment, she added: “Yes, of course we pray for Palestine every day. There’s never a perfect way to phrase it for everyone, but that’s my truth.”

Government Under Fire for Lack of Early Warnings

While tributes and support pour in, state officials are facing criticism for the lack of warnings prior to the floods.
Senator Ted Cruz admitted Monday (July 7), “If we could go back and do it again, we would evacuate.”
Meanwhile, Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring Jr. revealed that his city never received a proper alert:

“It all happened upriver at the worst possible place… Everyone in Kerr County wishes we could’ve warned them — but we didn’t even have a warning. We did not know.”

A State in Mourning — A Nation Responds

As Texas continues to grapple with the devastation, many across the nation and the globe are stepping up to help — from musicians and public figures to everyday citizens donating, volunteering, or simply sharing the stories of those impacted.

Flood warnings remain active, and authorities are urging residents in vulnerable areas to stay alert and follow safety guidelines.
