At the 2025 Met Gala, co-chair A$AP Rocky lived up to his “Fashion Killa” reputation by delivering one of the most memorable looks of the evening—crafted by none other than himself.
The rapper and style icon chose a bespoke ensemble from his own creative agency, AWGE. It was a bold nod to Harlem roots and contemporary tailoring, showing the world what happens when streetwear meets high fashion in the most refined way.
A Tailored Tribute to Harlem
Rocky’s custom double-breasted parka, made from technical wool and featuring coated snaps and Velcro sleeve detailing, wasn’t just a fashion statement—it was a tribute. The design drew inspiration from Marmot jackets, a staple of Harlem street style. “Marmots are a Harlem tradition—in the winter, everyone has a Marmot on,” Rocky said during his final fitting in New York. “That was our teenage jacket.”
Reimagined with a tuxedo-like closure, the coat offered a clever blend of sportswear and sophistication. Longtime stylist Matthew Henson, who collaborated with Rocky on the piece, noted, “It’s a really crazy outdoor technical jacket, but it has a really beautiful shape.”

Rocky completed his look with a white cotton poplin shirt, black wool trousers, a tailored vest, a classic black necktie, and exposed satin boxers for a cheeky twist. He paired the outfit with sleek dress shoes created in collaboration with Christian Louboutin and adorned himself with statement jewelry from Bvlgari.

AWGE’s Evolution
Founded in 2014, AWGE has grown from a creative collective into a full-fledged design house, debuting its first runway show during Paris Fashion Week in June 2024. In his recent Vogue cover feature, Rocky was seen in a tailored AWGE suit alongside his grandmother Cathy—a testament to how personal and familial his design journey has become.
“Being a dad has definitely influenced my style,” Rocky shared. “This is my favorite style era.”
A Met Gala Veteran
This year marked Rocky’s fifth appearance at the Met Gala, beginning with his debut in 2014 for the Charles James-themed exhibit. In recent years, he’s often appeared with Rihanna, and together, the duo has consistently stolen the spotlight.
